It is my birthday today and I was doing some reflection earlier this morning on what I have learned in my 32 years…..here are 3 things WE CAN control that will dictate our SUCCESS:
Have a positive attitude.
o Attitude is Everything. Good vibes only.
§ Do not shy away from conflict but be mindful in your approach with others. Build bridges, do not burn them.
Work hard. Work smart. Efficiency is key and speed kills. Have a structured process that works for you, stick to it. Get after it.
o As The Rock says: “be humble, be hungry & always be the hardest worker in the room”
o As Andy Frisella says: “the work comes before the belief”
§ When you are young and have little to no responsibilities it is the crucial time to build a foundation for your career that will set you up for the rest of your life. Put your head down and trust that if you do the work you WILL BE SUCCESSFUL. Take my word for it. People notice this and it makes the difference between average and great.
Get in front of your customers. Our team lives and works in the San Francisco Bay Area for a reason. Yes, we are in close proximity to the ocean, mountains, wine country AND our customers. Ask yourself: when was the last time I grabbed coffee, lunch or a drink (or several drinks) with your contacts? This is how you build long-standing relationships that will help you form a mutually beneficial partnership and wealth, not over email.
o Get your face in the place. Everyone (in sales) should have at least 1 F2F meeting every single week. There are no excuses for not doing at least that. The more the merrier.
